Return to Sender
Some words aren’t meant to be mailed.
They’re meant to be left behind—
quietly, honestly, without knowing who will read them.
Or if anyone will.
Return to Sender is a handwritten letter project.
No name. No reply.
Not meant to be answered—just continued, if it’s meant to be.
Letters are placed in the world
as they are.
And if they find you,
you can leave them, keep them, or add your own line
before returning it to someone new.
Not because you have to—
but because someone might need it,
just like you did.
Just presence, passed on.
How to Take Part
Want to write your own?
Here’s how:
1. Write a letter—to someone real, imagined, remembered, or unknown.
2. Keep it honest. Don’t soften it. Don’t explain it.
3. Sign it with “Unwritten” or a symbol—if anything.
4. Leave it somewhere quiet: a café, church pew, park bench, waiting room.
5. Walk away.
That’s it.
No proof. No reply.
Just presence—placed.
